The following is a partial listing of what's on tap for the Solar Guard video room. The final schedule will be in cadets membership package and posted at the festival. Each Solar Guard video session will begin with a MATINEE AT THE BIJOU with coming attractions and special messages. Cadets are encouraged to bring any Space related movies, videos or DVDs of the 1950s or early 60s for the video sessions. This is only a small sample of what will be seen at the festival.
Amazon Women on the Moon - Great spoof provided by Cadet Tim Young. Amazon Women on the Moon was a 1980s movie that spoofed watching TV. The movie consists a guy sitting at home, channel surfing of short skits, "commercials", and a few minutes here and there of a 1950s space movie. Tim pulled the space movie segments together to make the short subject we have for viewing. Look for the famous angled "rock" that seems to show up in every Western and Science Fiction movie of the 1950s. A real fun short.
Special messages from Commander Corry and few previews of upcoming events appear in the opening sessions of the video shows.
SPACE PATROL
Space Patrol the early
years -1950- "Lady of Diamonds"
pre-syndication 15 minute episodes from KECA. Look for the early "Robin
Hood"
styled SP uniforms
and for Kit Corry's famous flubs. These early episodes star Glen Denning (AKA
Franklin Mullen) as Kit Corry and Norm Jolley as a heavy working for the Lady
of Diamonds. Also listen for the "voice" (Ken Mayer) of Kit's brother
Buzz who would soon replace the tongued tied Kit.
Solo Flight to Jupiter - 02/10/1951
Episode - # 7
Happy finds an unwelcome passenger at the Jupiter Spaceport while on his first
solo flight. Count the number of times Cadet Happy gets hit on the head.
A trend that carries throughout the series.
